What could be more important in this life than our health? When we are sick, it is difficult to do anything, right? Thank God, He uses everything, even miserable things like sickness for His glory. Why His glory? Satan asked that very question, “Why does God have to get all the glory?” Then, the most gorgeous angel convinced a third of the heavenly angels to join him in a revolt against God so he could get all the glory instead of God. So, in this journey we are on, we can either live to bring God glory or we can join the rebel forces and live to bring Satan glory. There are no other options! Bringing glory to ourselves automatically puts us in Satan’s betrayal club, at odds with our Creator. So, God gets the glory, really, because He is the only one that can handle it.
So, then I ask, does God get more glory from us being sick or being healthy? Clearly, we can do way more when we are healthy and doing more is exactly what he wants. Check out this powerful verse from Yochanan (John) 15:7-8: 7 “If you remain united with Me, and My words with you, then ask whatever you want, and it will happen for you. 8 This is how My Father is glorified — in your bearing much fruit; this is how you will prove to be My talmidim.”
This month, let’s think about what we can do to get on the “bearing much fruit” way of being! How can we live in such a way that we are healthy? We know we aren’t going to be fruitful laying sick in bed. Let’s pray for each other in agreement with St. John: “'Dear friend, I am praying that everything prosper with you and that you be in good health, as I know you are prospering spiritually.” – 3 Yochanan (3 John) 1:2. We have Holy Spirit who is full of wisdom inside of us! Our bodies are His temple! He will lead us into good health as we listen!
