THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS
By Pastor Simon Valenzuela
Hello, folks! Have you noticed? Festive lights are everywhere! Christmas songs fill the airwaves mornings and evenings. Lighted trees with decorations begin to take shape. My goodness, here we are again – December, the happiest month of the year!
A popular Christmas poem says,
“Carols in the distance,
Laughter everywhere,
I can smell Christmas
Floating in the air.”
The book of Isaiah says in 9:6,
“A Child is born to us,
A Son is given to us!
And He will be our Ruler.
He will be called, Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”
Yes, the Spirit of Christmas is here and it is here to stay because we celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. He is the reason for the Christmas season. So come let us rejoice: With one big joyful voice proclaim the name of the Lord. He is our Counselor, Mighty God, heavenly Father, and our Prince of Peace.
Let’s give Him our love, because He loved us first (John 3:16). And with His love let us share with others. Remember Christmas is loving, giving and receiving. As we celebrate, let Jesus be the One to guide us. And may the Spirit of Christmas be always in our hearts.
